Performance off the field is just as important as performance on the field for the Irish Rugby Football Union and Football Association of Ireland when it came to selecting a partner to deliver key insulation features for the new €410 million Aviva Stadium.
As Ireland’s first and only, UEFA Elite Stadium, the 50,000 capacity venue is one of the most modern purpose built structures in the country.
In total, nine Kingspan Insulation technologies were employed in the build of the new Aviva Stadium, including Kingspan Kooltherm K7 in the ceiling, a premium performance rigid thermoset insulation with thermal conductivities as low as 0.020 W/m.K.
Developers also installed Kingspan Kooltherm K10 Soffit Board directly to the underside of the concrete floors throughout the build – reducing costs and saving time.K10 is the only dedicated soffit insulation system to be approved by the factory mutual for soffits up to 9.1m.
Recognising the many benefits offered by the Kingspan Kooltherm range, specifiers at the Aviva Stadium also employed Kingspan Kooltherm K3 Floor insulation. The premium performance K3 ensured maximum thermal resistance for minimal insulation depth.
Kingspan Kooltherm K15 Rainscreen Board is a superior rainscreen cladding system that has been successfully tested to BS: 8414: 2002 and is approved for use on builds over 18 meters. In addition to this, Kingspan Kooltherm K5 External Wall Board was also specified for the build. Suitable for use behind traditional and lightweight polymer modified renders and dry cladding systems, Kingspan Kooltherm K5 is one of the most advanced external insulation systems available for masonry walls.
Embracing the complete Kingspan Kooltherm portfolio of products, Kingspan Kooltherm K8 Cavity Board was also used within the build. Once again, like all products within the Kingspan Kooltherm range, Kingspan Koolterm K8 Cavity Board is designed to deliver maximum efficiency and ease of installation.
The multi-million euro Aviva Stadium also employs Kingspan Kooltherm K12 and K18 products and the industry defining Kingspan Styrozone extruded polystyrene range at the heart of its fabric.
